Hey black girl, it’s been a while.

That Cherry trailer seems bigger

when the dreams of riding ponies

still make you smile.

Oh, black girl, can you stay a little longer

we missed the little boots dancing in

the rain, roaming through pastures

catching fireflies on warm

summer days.

Hey, black girl, will the

time catch the beat,

so the curve in those

hips don’t miss the

hands of unity.

Does your world

run away as you

chase after your dreams,

reversing all the steps

as if these legs haven’t

carried the weight

of a nation.

Tell us why you laugh even

though no jokers are in

your hand-rooted to nurture

the soul of the earthiest specimens, you

bare strength to fight against a

familiar toll. These fees are charged

at birth Queen, but are only rejuvenates

the riches within. Little black girl

as you reflect upon sisters blood and

brothers sin, you realize

the woman within.

-Sincerely a little black girl.
