I admire how flexible music can be when it comes to expressing how you feel. There are some that relate to you when you are sad, angry, happy, excited, and many more! In the spirit of International Women’s week, I would like to share the top ten songs I listen to when I need to feel empowered with a lyric that sticks out to me. These songs remind women that they are powerful, beautiful human beings.  Every day we are working hard to overcome daily biased adversities that for some reason have not changed much. However, I’m hopeful that such out-dated thinking will evolve into something more positive and progressive.

  4. Salute by Little Mix – “Ladies all across the world/ Listen up, we’re looking for recruits/ If you’re with me, let me see your hands/ Stand up and salute/Get your killer heels, sneakers, pumps or lace up your boots/ Representing all the women/ Salute, salute!”

A gender-equal world is a challenging mission that is 100% possible. It is not solely based on feminist groups to make a difference, but every individual of all genders is responsible to step up and encourage change. As the wise Alice Walker once said, “the most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” Let’s exercise that power every chance we get.
