While every woman is naturally beautiful, sometimes we want to enhance our features to feel our best. Finding the perfect makeup routine can be tricky when balancing between applying too much makeup, staying away from a cakey look, or not applying enough, in which we feel as though we haven’t covered our bumps or blemishes. Sometimes all women want is light coverage and enhancement of their looks, so knowing how to do an everyday natural look is important to achieve.

The first thing that you want to do, before starting your makeup, is to wash your face and moisturize your skin. Washing your skin cleans all the dirt and excess oil off your skin, making sure that it won’t get trapped or seep into your skin once you apply your makeup. In addition, moisturizing your skin is important to hydrate the skin which helps your foundation blend smoothly and efficiently along your skin.

Foundation and Concealer: When applying foundation, the most important thing to remember is that the foundation can be built. Too much foundation becomes hard to blend thus causing an unnatural and heavy look. Starting off with a few dots on each area of the face is a sure-fire way of making sure that you do not overload the face with foundation. (Remember that even if your foundation does not cover all your blemishes, you still can go in with concealer.) If you want extra coverage on red spots and dark circles, go in with concealer, depending on your brand, a little concealer can go a long way. Make sure you are blending your concealer with your foundation thoroughly so there are no harsh lines.

Helpful Tip: Go a shade lighter in concealer for your under-eye area to give your eyes a more awake and bright look.

Setting Powder: After foundation and concealer, go in with a setting powder. This will help with dry skin and keeps your makeup lasting all day. Setting powder allows for the application of other powders such as blush and bronzer to blend smoothly.

Bronzer and Blush: Wipe off any excess powder and then apply bronzer to help bring warmth into the skin. Apply bronzer above the jawbones and along the upper forehead. Bronzer allows for slight enhancement of the cheeks without having to contour. In addition, blush is another powder applied if you want to add more color to the face. However, people who have a naturally red-toned face may decide against adding blush, it’s all up to your personal preference.

Eyes: The eyes are an important part of a natural makeup look. When applying eyeshadow, find colors that are slightly darker than your skin tone. These types of colors draw attention to the eyes but in a subtle way.

Helpful Tip: Set your face with setting spray before applying mascara.

Set Your Face: It is easy to forget to set your face makeup, especially before applying mascara, but it is a must beauty tip. When you set your final look it adds a lasting touch on the powder and the liquids previously applied. Make sure you do this before applying mascara because sometimes the setting spray causes the mascara to become wet again and possibly smear into your already done makeup.

Eyelashes: When applying your mascara make sure there are no clumps. Clumps getting stuck on your eyelashes can make your natural look not so natural. Strive for a darker and longer eyelash look. Because your makeup is on the lighter side, your mascara should be too.

With these tips, you will be rocking a natural makeup look whenever you need it. I always like to wear a look that makes people wonder if I am wearing makeup or not. It enhances my features and makes me feel confident. Just remember that you can always build up your makeup if you feel it isn’t enough coverage or isn’t bold enough for you. Simply do what you feel is right for your personal look.
