Animals are absolutely amazing! Most times they can read your emotions, and they do cute little things to make you feel better when you’re sad or heighten your feelings when you’re happy. Last year was my freshman year in college, and it helped me so much having my two cats at my parents’ house to love on them and let all my pent up emotions go. They would follow me, lay with me, and sleep next to me, making me feel special. It made all my bad feelings and thoughts disappear. I don’t know how to explain it other than they brought me so much happiness that everything else faded away! My sister says the same thing about her dog. I feel the same about both dogs and cats, I just don’t have an inside dog. I prefer inside animals, but everyone is different. However you feel, you might be in need of a furry friend to take your worries away.Â
I’ve heard any pet can help you feel better. If you aren’t into pets with fur or you’re allergic, you could try getting a different type of pet such as a fish, turtle, snake, or anything else that might fit your home. Whatever the case may be, there are always animals out there in need of a home. There are websites like Findmyfurryfriend and adoptapet.com, or there are local animal shelters such as 4Paws here in Ruston. Even vets allow you to adopt animals they’ve rescued! Think about it for a while because you shouldn’t jump into a decision that you might not be willing to maintain. Here’s a website that tells you more about how a pet can help you!

You can even ask friends and family for advice on what they think about it. Remember You don’t have to be sad to get a pet! You should get one because you want a companion, and you want to give it love as well as receive it. I’m waiting to get a puppy once I get my own apartment because I had to give my cats away after I found out I’m highly allergic… I still love cats I just can’t be around them, since they mess up my sinuses and give me headaches. I am doing an allergy treatment, though. Hopefully, when I’m done I will be able to love cats up close once again! If you are in the same situation, I feel for you. Pictures and stories of animals might help cheer you up for the time being (if you are sad). I know it helps me!Â
Until then, my friend’s boyfriend just got them a puppy named Bumi (like off of Avatar: The Last Air Bender).
Here’s a picture for you to enjoy. Good luck and I hope you decide to give a furry friend a forever home soon!
