Black Cultural Center Annual Fashion Show

Campus News: Fierce Face

While you may not hope to be the next Victoria’s Secret model to grace the catwalk, Loyola’s Black Cultural Center is ready to bring out your inner Adriana Lima.

BCC, a student run organization dedicated to serve as a safe haven for all cultures, annually hosts a fashion show that showcases urban fashion in the Chicago area every spring semester. It has sparked up such an interest in past years that preparation starts the year before the models even hit the stage.

“The fashion show always brings about a lot of hype,” Rukyra Ambrose, a 22-year-old senior and BCC president said Friday in a meeting detailing the audition process. “We have students from other schools, along with professional models interested in trying out.”

“But there’s no reason to let the competition deter you from making an entrance,” said Kaiya Kersh, a freshman and one of 6 BCC member at larges. “We embrace all body types, genders and backgrounds to exemplify Chicago’s diversity.”

If the suspense is killing you, strut over to Mundelein Auditorium November 19th and 20th at 7pm for a chance under the spotlight.
