Students of Loyola: a take on the very exciting, emotional, and raw “Humans of New York.” I want to capture the students at Loyola in a way that has not been done before. I want people’s joy and struggles to be out there, without forcing anything too much.
Meet Sameer Sawaqed:
“My weightloss journey has been going on for roughly six years. What really started moving things along was when I dropped my first YouTube video. Originally I did it to hold myself accountable, but then I saw how many people were behind me and it really motivated me. One of my main goals throughout my journey has been to lose 140 pounds. While I am losing that weight I want to help 140,000 people lose weight too. I want to reduce obesity in America. I also want to start a television series through Netflix or YouTube. I want to document losing the weight and helping other people lose the weight they want to lose. I have already started helping people by providing fitness plans, nutrition plans, and overall mental plans. I do not just want to help people lose weight; I want to change their lives completely.
The little things make a huge difference. Just say to yourself, ‘today I am going to cut out soda,’ and then the next day chips or cookies. Time is really valuable. There are a lot of things you can get back, but time is not one of them. Just start with little goals. One thing I have always told myself is you either have excuses or you have results; you can’t have both.
In my time at Loyola I have met a lot of people, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to meet people. This girl, Eli, really changed my life. She went through her own struggle and I saw how she bounced back from that. It hit me; if she could go through that then I could get through anything.”
