While I was at work I recently discovered this British artist called Jonathan Jeremiah. I listened to his new album “Horsepower For The Streets,” which was released on September. If you love music that sounds like an orchestra with the violins, piano and the church-like chorus in the back, then this is the album for you. Jeremiah’s music is similar to Hozier’s music, it’s kind of like soul mixed with pop music.
So…who is Jonathan Jeremiah anyways?
He is a songwriter and a singer who was born in London and began performing at the age of 14. After taking a road trip to U.S, he started to write his own songs and got a job as a piano man at a bar in New York. The singer made his debut in 2011 with his album “A Solitary Man.” Then he made a second album called “Gold Dust,” which I really recommend to listen to as well. This album was recorded with the Metropole Orkest, which is the largest-full-time ensemble in the world.
My Top #3 Songs
The first song I listened to was “Restless Heart.” The beat and the guitars are so peaceful, it reminded me of the song “Brandy” by the Looking Glass. I think that’s why I like this song so much, because it has that 70s vibe embedded in the music.
My second favorite song would be “Youngblood.” This has a 70s vibe too, but the beat is way faster. It’s kind of like the songs you listen in a road trip with the windows down. The sound of this song is so beautiful and it fits perfectly with the lyrics, since it talks about that “living in the moment” and “enjoying life while you can” mentality that young people have.
When you listen to soul music, your whole body just levitates! “Horsepower For The Streets” is definitely an example of this. When you listen to this song, I recommend you put on headphones and turn the volume up. You will have a lot of positive emotions going through you. The song lyrics makes you think about societal change and things you might want to do to make that change.
If you want to make your day better, listen to this album!
