Welcome to Her Campus LUM 2021!! We are so pleased to be entering our second year of being a Her Campus Chapter and are eager to start the year right!
We will be returning to our regularly scheduled programming of lifestyle, news, and all things COLLEGE WOMEN soon, but I wanted to take a moment to introduce our fantastic team for this year and welcome anyone new to what Her Campus LUM is all about.
Her Campus LUM is new to Loyola, we have only existed for two years and now we are back with a bang! Our mission with Her Campus LUM is to uplift female voices on Campus while maintaining a fun, light style that makes us approachable. This year, we will be publishing loads of articles on topics ranging from lifestyle, politics, university events, and anything in between. Our Instagram will be lit up in green (our school color!) and pink as we grow engagement through posts and interactive stories. We will partner with prominent organizations on Campus, including the women’s center and the counseling center. Her Campus LUM is a place where women on Campus and come and find solace, relatability, and hopefully some friends!
So now that you know a little about our mission let’s learn a bit about the amazing women behind the organization.
Siena Pizzano is our President and Co-Campus Correspondent this year! She is Data Science Major and an Innovation and entrepreneurship minor. Siena first heard of Her Campus when she went to their conference in 2018 in NYC. She was so inspired by the community of women, so excited to join HC LUM, and is grateful to serve as the President.
And on to me, my name is Elena Johnston, and I am the Editor In Chief and Co-Campus Correspondent. I am a sophomore global studies and communications double major with specializations in public relations and journalism. I was personally drawn to the community of strong, creative women that made up Her Campus and wanted to help build that at Loyola. I am so excited to be running Her Campus along with our President, Siena Pizzano!
Now on to our outstanding Executive board members!
Maddie Mastriano serves as the Marketing Director! She is a senior majoring in communications specializing in advertising/public relations with a minor in marketing. Maddie joined Her Campus last year when she was online taking classes back home in Long Island, New York. Her Campus made her feel connected to Loyola through the zoom world.
Isobel Fletcher is the Social Media Director! She is a senior communications major specializing in advertising and public relations, and a minor in public relations. Fun fact: Isobel is originally from England but now lives in Massachusetts. She got into Her Campus when she started following their main account and loved the women-driven content they put out. She felt like it was an organization that she felt represented and inspired by!
Gianna Dinnini is the Events Director! Gianna is a junior political science major with a minor in writing, and she is interning on Capitol Hill this semester. Gianna was inspired to join Her Campus when she heard her friend at another college talk about her unique experiences!
Last but certainly not least, our advisor is Dr. Curtis. She has a BA, MA, and Ph.D. in English as well as an MBA, with an emphasis in Management. She has been a university instructor for 15 years. For the past 10 years she has taught at Loyola University Maryland. In addition, she has been a regular visiting professor in the American Studies Department at the University of Marie Curie-Skłodowska in Lublin, Poland, where she taught both graduate and undergraduate students. For 4 summers, she taught Composition in Panama City, Panamá for the University of Louisville—Panamá and has worked in the marketing department at Bon Appétit magazine. She has published in journals such as Res Rhetorica, The Florida Review, and New South. She is currently at work on a memoir detailing her time in Poland.
So that is our incredible team, joined, of course, by our talented writers, event planners, and social media stars that will be creating content every week.
We can’t wait to get this year started, so welcome and HCXO,
Elena, Editor In Chief
