A Review on Apple Crisp Macchiato vs. Pumpkin Spiced Latte

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lynn chapter.

Are you team apple or team pumpkin? As we all know, it can’t officially be fall without a warm fall drink! The first three the pop in my mind are apple cider (love!), salted Caramel hot chocolate, and of course the pumpkin spice latte, or PSL. But this year, Starbucks released a new fall drink- the Apple Crisp Macchiato. It’s the perfect mix of coffee, apple flavor, and caramel to finish it off. And just like the Pumpkin Spiced Latte, it can be iced or hot. I personally prefer it hot even though I love iced coffee drinks. I believe that the heat really adds to that fall feel. Today, I will be discussing why you should try both drinks this fall season!

Let’s start with the VIP: the classic Pumpkin Spiced Latte. Ever since it made its debut in 2003, it’s been a MUST for everybody everywhere to get their hands on. If you have never had it, it has flavors of creamy sweet pumpkin and cinnamon. If you don’t want to go classic but still want that pumpkin flavor, try the pumpkin cream cold brew. This one is a little newer, and a personal favorite of mine. This is a great beverage for both cold brew lovers and cold foam lovers alike. I personally like it because when it starts to melt, the pumpkin cream makes the cold brew even better as a whole. This is also a great drink for those who like any kind of foam on their drink whether it be cold, vanilla, or cheese. I love getting cheese foam on my boba tea so it was a must for me!

Now let’s discuss the newbie, the Apple Crisp Macchiato. Like mentioned earlier, it has flavors of apple and caramel, and this is perfect for those who love fruity flavors in their coffee or tea.

Depending on where you get it, it can be tangy or sweet. For example, I’ve had it at Starbucks, and they made it not as sweet. I’ve also had it from the Perper Coffeehouse here on campus and I think they make theirs a lot better! If you ask me, it is definitely  a must try!

Whether you like sweet, fruity flavors, or cinnamon and pumpkin, this fall Starbucks has the drink for you! Don’t forget that you can still get similar drinks at other places like Wawa or your local coffee shop! You can also make these drinks at home—just find a sillier recipe online and get at it! Thirsty yet?
