Having been in the United States for just over six months, and having started college about two and a half months ago there are still moments when I wish I could go back to my last year of high school. Even though COVID messed up the majority of 2020, the times I spent with my friends in the boarding house somehow made all the worries in the world disappear. Many people have this connotation that boarding school is so strict and not that fun don’t get me wrong, it can be strict but being with your friends twenty-four seven makes it way more bearable.Â
We were all excited for our last year of high school, but the main thing we were most excited about was we got to have our own rooms, as having lived in the dorms for four years one would be rather excited to have their own room and having our friends living next-door to us. My hall of girls that live next-door to me became my family, I would not have wanted any other group of girlfriends to spend my last year of high school with. Yes, we had school work to do and sports to play, but we still made time for each other whether it be a five minute chat in the hallway or a movie night, we loved spending time with each other.Â
One memory that sticks out the most is that on Wednesday nights us seniors were allowed to order takeout. Me and my friends discovered the most amazing pizza from a local restaurant that we all fell in love with. Our last night together before we all went off to write our final exams we ordered pizza, went onto the field with our blankets and we were all wearing our senior hoodies that we had just been given that day. We were all matching. We sat together, ate our pizzas and had a good time. We had many laughs and we were all smiling. We loved each other. We spent the whole year together and got to know each other a little better and I think it’s safe to say that none of us would’ve wanted it any other way.Â
I know for a fact that those eight girls will be my friends for life. They were always there whether I was happy or sad. One thing people don’t realize about boarding school is that you come out with the most precious lifelong friends and sisters. I could not have imagined high school without these girls. Â
