So it is that time of year where all college students go home for Thanksgiving break. At this point most students have not seen their family and friends since last August or early September. There has been a lot of time passed that you want to catch up and tell your friends and family about. You might be nervous for how it will be seeing your friends and family again. So here is my experience with going back home:

When I went home last year I was excited! I had gone home a few times before Thanksgiving just to see my family. So seeing them again was great and there was not so much to catch up with because I spoke to them everyday and saw them once a month. They welcomed me back with open arms and it was like I never left.

When it came to seeing my friends I was extremely excited but also a little nervous. I hadn’t seen them in a while and I wanted to tell them everything that has happened the past 3 months, but I felt like I didn’t have enough time. Also it is impossible to tell them every detail of things that happened in the past 3 months in only a few hours. But once I saw them we picked up right where we left off. It was not awkward or anything and we all just hung out and chatted. We all spoke about our colleges, the new friends we made, the clubs we joined, and more. We all had different experiences and did different things so it was nice to sit around for a few hours and talk about it!

Overall, when I went home it was great! My fears and worries were for nothing. My friends did not forget about me and we continued right where we left off. My family also did not forget me and enjoyed having me back but they were sad when I had to leave. Try not to stress about going back home. Look at it as a break from your school life and going back to your home life!
