Are you thinking about changing your diet? Maybe you want to eat healthier, or maybe you wanna try something new. I know how you feel. Lately, I have been trying to learn more about veganism and animal rights in general so I know how to bring veganism into my lifestyle. However, some parts of veganism can be extremely sad once you realize how animals are raised and used for their meat. If you do not feel that you are ready to learn about all of that just yet but you just want to tip your toes in veganism, I have the tips for you!
- Drink non-dairy alternatives
I have written about nondairy alternatives before for Her Campus and I still love them! Animals go through so much to produce milk for us humans, along with going through both a scary and sad process. Choosing coconut, almond, or oat is better for them, us, and even the environment! I love having almond milk with my hot chocolate in the wintertime and having oat milk in my coffee at coffee shops! But that’s just how I use my dairy. You can buy nut butter instead of regular, and even plant-based cheese!
- Eat plant-based
Speaking of plant-based cheese, did you know that there are other foods out there that are vegan and vegetarian? I’m sure you have heard of Beyond burgers, which are burger patties made from plants. However, there is also Morningstar Farms which makes plant-based breakfast meat patties and sausages. The brand Gardien makes meatballs, dumplings, and fish filets. You can also try to make plant-based meals using recipes on the internet.
- Get involved.
You can get involved and learn more about veganism by looking up where your local vegan events and groups are in your area. This is a great way to celebrate with others why you are vegan and learn more about being vegan, and learn more about animal rights. On social media, you can also do this. I follow a few accounts and hashtags on Instagram about animal rights and I love learning about the brutal truth of the meat industry, along with seeing how all the cute animals that are saved from this live their lives.
If you are thinking about becoming vegan, you have come to the right place! You don’t have to take drastic measures. You can start by learning about the effects of the meat industry, animal rights, and just how veganism works in general. Don’t be afraid to try something new, you never know if you may end up liking it!
