Campus Celebrity: Nicole Palmieri

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Manhattan chapter.

Meet this weeks Campus Celebrity, Nicole Palmieri

  • Class: Senior, age 21
  • Hometown: Monroe, New York
  • Major: Chemical Engineering
  • Favorite Food: Ice Cream (with sprinkles)

HerCampus: What extracurricular activites are you involved in on campus?

Nicole: I am a member of ISPE, AIChE, and the current vice president of Sigma Delta Tau.

HerCampus: What advice would you give to students at Manhattan College when choosing to be involved on campus?

Nicole: I would tell students looking to get involved that it’s really important to give everything a chance! Going to one meeting doesn’t mean you’re committed to a club or organization, but if you don’t look into it, you might miss out on something you might have really enjoyed. I never thought I would want to join a sorority and I’m so glad I did!

HerCampus: Who do you look up to the most?

Nicole: I have this one lunatic professor who I absolutely adore! I was so anxious and worried as an underclassman; I don’t know how I could have made it through the last few years without her! Now we just laugh about all the times I totally over reacted about something ridiculous because she probably would have reacted the same way, and I can only hope that one day I can be for another student what she has been for me.

HerCampus: Why did you choose Manhattan College?

Nicole: I chose Manhattan College because I heard really amazing things about the chemical engineering program and I couldn’t wait to be a part of it! I also really liked being close to home and close the city.

HerCampus: Quote you live by?

Nicole:  “The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.” I love this quote because I think it’s so important to recognize the little things that make you happy! Even if the whole day is awful, that one moment you spend laughing with someone you love can make it all better.

HerCampus: What do you like to do in your spare time?

Nicole: I love to read great books when I have time! I also love to spend time hanging out with the people I care about, even if it’s just watching a movie together and relaxing.

HerCampus: Where do you see yourself after you graduate?

Nicole: I am considering getting my masters degree!

HerCampus: What is your best memory at Manhattan College thus far?

Nicole: There are so many amazing memories from my nearly four years here! Any time I was surrounded by the people I love, I was truly happy.
