Five Netflix Shows That Will Help You Survive This Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Manhattan chapter.

Here we are once again, the start of a brand new semester. The days of sleeping until 3 p.m., eating holiday cookies for breakfast and lounging in our pajamas all day while our moms cook us dinner are no more. Winter break is over and our new days will be filled with homework, long lecture classes, ten page papers and “gourmet” dining hall food. But we need to keep ourselves sane somehow, right? The perfect way to take a homework break is to indulge in the wonderful world of Netflix and to immerse yourself into the fiction lives of drama TV shows. Here are five popular Netflix shows that will keep you sane throughout the spring semester.

1. One Tree HillIf you are a sucker for teenage love stories, basketball rivalries, love triangles and stories of incredible friendships, then One Tree Hill is the show for you. Let’s not forget that Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty are the main characters and who wouldn’t want to stare at them all day?

2. Gossip GirlBesides becoming emotionally attached to Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass, “Gossip Girl” shows you a glimpse into the incredible lives of “Manhattan’s elite” while simultaneously making you fall in love with Blair’s independence, Serena’s fashion sense and Chuck Bass’ bad boy persona. The show captures incredible scenes from our very own Big Apple and will make you stay up all night trying to keep up with its riveting drama.

3. Friday Night Lights“Friday Night Lights” follows the lives of high school football coach, Eric Taylor, his family, the citizens of Dillon, Texas and the Texas high school football team, the Dillon Panthers. Trust me, this show is a must see! Although the show is revolved around football, it also captures love stories, triumphant teenage coming of age stories and it doesn’t hurt that the characters are wildly handsome!

4. FriendsI think anyone would agree when I say that “Friends” is a classic and a must see! Between Joey’s sense of humor, Chandler’s sarcasm, Ross’ goofiness, Rachael’s good looks, Monica’s fat stories and Phoebe’s quirkiness, I promise you will be entertained for hours!

5. Breaking Bad

Critics say “Breaking Bad” is the “best show on television,” so why not jump on the band wagon and see what all the hype is about? I’m positive you won’t be disappointed!
