As the weather begins to get colder we pull out sweaters and jackets in preparation for winter weather and put away our skirts and crop-tops from summer. For some, cold weather means an end to cute, fun outfits we get to wear during the warmer months, but this isn’t true. You can still look and feel good without sacrificing warmth or style.Â
Most people feel that looking good during the week while you’re in college can be difficult. You’re tired and have early classes so maybe you don’t have the time to think about what you’re going to wear today. While this is understandable, there are a lot of ways to work around this. Here are five tips for how to dress cute without sacrificing comfort.Â
- Not sweatpants, soft pants
A lot of people’s go to at the beginning of a long day of classes, especially in colder months, is to throw on a pair of sweatpants. I personally don’t like to wear sweatpants to class, so what I do instead is invest in as many pairs of soft pants as I can. This means pants with an elastic waistband usually made out of knit fabrics or spandex.Â
- Sweatshirts can be cute
When thinking about what to wear in colder weather while still looking cute it’s good to remember that a stylish sweatshirt can add as much to an outfit as a nice top. You can look on websites like Princess Polly or Urban Outfitters or you can just pick one up from a thrift store.Â
- Big shirt, small pants or small shirt, big pants
Most people have heard the expression “big shirt, small pants” or “small shirt, big pants” before. That is to say the best way to feel comfortable and look cute is to wear either a small, cropped top with a pair of baggy pants or to wear an oversized shirt or sweater with a pair of tight pants or skirt.Â
- Cardigans
It seemed like five or so years ago long cardigans were really popular, but now I don’t see them as much. I like to wear a chunky sweater in the fall to make an outfit a little cuter. They’re soft and cozy and don’t sacrifice my personal style when I wear them.
- Jeans CAN be comfyÂ
Recently, I obtained a few pairs of vintage Calvin Klein jeans and it’s not the brand or the look that I loved about them persay, but it was how comfortable I felt when I wore them. Since getting them, I’ve dedicated myself to only buying jeans that are a size up from because I feel a lot better in my clothes when I’m swimming in them. In addition to this, the fact that the jeans are vintage does add to how soft they are, as opposed to newer jeans which can be stiffer.Â
