The period is the most dreaded time of the month for all women. The cramps, cravings, hormone changes and constant worry of bleeding through can cloud your mind for a whole week. Through lots of trial and error, I have come across a few life-saving products for my period that make it less stressful. Here are my period must-haves:

The “Flo” app: I downloaded this app a few years back and have relied on it ever since. It reminds me a few days prior that my period is going to start, allowing me to be prepared. I also receive notifications of possible symptoms I may be experiencing based on what day in my cycle I am. My favorite part of the app is being able to log all of my symptoms, flow and sexual activity. It keeps me in check and allows me to easily know when something is wrong.

Always brand pads & panty liners: Always is hands down my favorite brand of period products. They’re comfortable, come in a range of sizes and I trust them to keep me protected all day. I always (;)) have their panty liners on me before and after my period for any pre or post-period discharge. 10/10

Tampax Pearl: Lately, I’ve become a tampon girl. I tried them when I first started my period and was so uncomfortable with them! Now though, being in a classroom and workwear full time, tampons have become my lifesaver. They’re smaller to carry around, you don’t have to worry about additional underwear lines and they don’t make noise like pads do sometimes when you walk, making wearing business attire more comfortable during that time of the month.

Flushable wipes: I simply do not know what I would do without flushable wipes in my life. Periods are messy and it does not make going to the bathroom easy. Using a flushable wipe instead of a bunch of toilet paper to make sure everything is clean and blood free before putting everything back on helps sooo much. It has helped with less stained clothing, less smell and less hassle.

Warmies stuffed animal: While I don’t personally have one, I can only imagine how amazing a Warmies stuffed animal would make me feel when on my period (or any day really). It’s like your regular heating pad that you put in the microwave but in stuffed animal form! Some even have a lavender scent to them. Falling asleep while hugging one would be the perfect period remedy.

Spanx/Nike pros: The biggest thing I used to contemplate when I was on my period was what to wear. That was until I saw a TikTok hack that was to simply wear spanx or Nike pros under whatever color pants you want to wear. While I always wear them with skirts and dresses, I never thought to wear them under pants to give an extra layer of protection!

Chocolate: My biggest period craving is always sweets. So, I always make sure I have some sort of chocolate snack in my food bin for that time. It’s important to treat yourself during this time as well, your body is going through a lot!

While being on your period can be hard, it is a lot more bearable with these products. If you haven’t tried any of these before, I highly recommend them!
