Top Grocery Stores Near MC

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Manhattan chapter.

After a while, Locke’s starts getting repetitive and you need something new. Thankfully, the Bronx has various grocery stores that offer different, affordable options that are dorm-friendly! Having food in your dorm is really important just in case you wake up late or you don’t feel like going out to get food.

Stop and Shop

A traditional grocery store that has everything you want and could need right there. It’s one of my favorite places because it is close to campus and it’s right on Broadway. It is also super easy to walk to if you just need a thing or two. Great for produce and baked goods!

Foodtown

Foodtown is also a traditional grocery store, but a little bit more pricey then Stop & Shop.  Personally I love getting frozen foods and ice cream here because it is affordable and also about a 10-minute walk from campus.

Aldi

Aldi is great for getting the essentials, but they also have a bunch of fun and different kinds of food that you normally wont get at your regular grocery store, (I love the chocolate waffles!) Aldi is known for being affordable because they mostly only carry their ‘Aldi’ brand. It’s across the street from Foodtown on Broadway and 230th.

BJ’s

BJ’s is the best for buying in bulk. They have so much food that you can store in your dorm and a lot of microwavable meals.  It’s best to go there once a month and stock up on essentials like water bottles, mac and cheese, and more.

These stores are all less than a mile away from campus, and were essential during my first year at MC. During this time it’s really important to have your own food that you can make in your dorm, or just a snack while you’re studying!
