Nature is to fashion what bags are to Kate Spade – the foundation of the whole idea.
When one enters their fashion haven they are looking for what speaks to them. This idea of having “the right eye for fashion” didn’t start anywhere near to recently. Since the beginning of time and fashion people have had an eye for what fur to use and how to place it on themselves to get the perfect look. We have morphed the way our predecessors did it to make the look a little cleaner to a Vogue trained eye.
Now you skeptics out there are probably reading this thinking about how I’m reading way too far into this. They used that fur for warmth, they just needed protection, no one actually knew what they were doing. I see your point, but you’re simply wrong.
Let’s be clear, I’m not saying that cavemen knew what they were doing. However, they did set a trend to be followed for years to come. They created a platform to build off of, leading us into the wealthiest industry today – whether it be the print they were using or the way they draped the fur over their bodies.
We, today, have taken this style, added a sprinkle of modern flare, and turned it into multi-billion dollars worth of merchandise.
Not all of our success today is due to humans of the past. Did I forget to mention the inspiration from our green life? Floral prints are an in-and-out trend, constantly popping up within every type of garment. At the designers disposal, flowers will always be there as a muse for their next masterpiece.
Based off this, I believe it is safe to say the relationship between nature and fashion is nothing new and going nowhere anytime soon.
