10 Movies to Watch Over Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marquette chapter.

For those of us who are not going on vacation this spring break, movies are a great and relaxing way to spend a night. Below I have compiled a list of 10 movies that are either classics or have a summery feel to enjoy over the next week.

1. The Way Way Back

This coming-of-age movie about an awkward 14-year-old boy’s summer is one I will never grow tired of watching. Duncan struggles to find comfort while spending summer vacation with his mother, step dad, and step sister in a film that is comical, dramatic, and in some scenes a tear-jerker.

2. The Breakfast Club

This is on the list purely because if you have not yet seen John Hughes’ classic film The Breakfast Club, now is the time.

3. The Spectacular Now

Another coming-of-age movie, Spectacular Now follows two teens in their last month of high school. This film is dramatic and romantic and has a great summery feel.

4. Almost Famous

This film is about a boy in high school who follows a touring band to write an article about them for Rolling Stone magazine.

5. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Yet another classic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off follows a boy who skips class often and decides to spend a day in Chicago with his friends before graduating high school.

6. Before Sunrise

Before Sunrise is a romantic movie that follows an American man, on his way to Vienna, and a French woman, on her way to Paris, who meet on a train and decide to spend the day together in Vienna.

7. Mad Max: Fury Road

This movie may have nothing to do with summer, but considering it won six Oscars this year, it’s worth watching. Mad Max: Fury Road is a post-apocalyptic chaotic adventure that keeps you on the edge from beginning to end.

8. The Sandlot

This classic summertime movie that follows kids playing baseball is a comedic adventure.

9. The Adjustment Bureau

This dramatic film follows a politician who falls in love with a dancer and must fight against his predetermined fate to be with her.

10. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

This film is also not summer-oriented. However, since it is being released in theaters during spring break, this superhero movie is a must-see as it involves a battle of the most well-known superheroes.
