HCMU: Why’d you choose Marquette?
PT: I walked on campus and I felt it. I really was undecided about college, and then I came here and I was like, “I think this it!” I took the campus tours and met some really nice people. It all fell into place.
HCMU: Do you have any advice for freshmen?
PT: Keep an open mind and always try new things because this is college. You only get four years and it goes so fast. Always try new things and meet new people because you might not get the chance to later.
HCMU: What activities are you involved in on campus?
PT: I work at Marquette University Television, the TV station. I’m part of production there, so everything behind the scenes. I’m never in front of the camera there. I also have a radio show with my roommate Lily. We do that every week and we also write a blog together.
HCMU: What activities are you involved in off campus?
PT: I work part time at TJ Maxx.
HCMU: What inspired you to start you YouTube channel?
PT: I was really awaked in high school so I thought it was a really good idea to talk to my camera as a person and I was like, “Let’s post it to the internet! Why not?” People started watching my videos for reasons I still don’t really understand. And then the video about my dorm room in Cobeen, everyone has watched.
HCMU: What is the video making process like?
PT: Normally I just think of random ideas. Then I set up my camera and tripod in my room and talk to myself for a little bit. I have t tell my roommates, “Hey, if you hear me talking to myself in my room I’m making a video, so don’t be concerned.” Then I just edit it and upload it. I try to be consistent about it.
HCMU: Do you have a favorite video that you’ve done?
PT: I probably can’t pick one. Well, recently, I made a video with my friend Hannah about Tinder experiences, which are horrifying but very funny. That’s a more recent favorite that I’ve done.
HCMU: Do you have a favorite Youtuber?
PT: My favorite is Lindsey Hughes, also known as beautybaby44. I’ve been watching her since the way beginning so it’s really cool to see how she’s transformed. I can only hope for myself to do that one day.
HCMU: What’s your dream job?
PT: I want to work in some sort of TV studio. My dream job would be “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
HCMU: What’s your life motto?
PT: “Be happy.” Life is always better when you’re happy. That’s what I try to do.
HCMU: What’s your ideal first date?
PT: I do like food. People are always like “No, don’t take me to dinner,” but if you take me to dinner that is great. Let’s go get food! But not at a real intense place, just a casual food experience where we can just chat and see if we’re compatible.
Thanks, Paula!
