Fall semester is now here, which means another semester full of new opportunities. With new opportunity comes so many positive things, however there can be a little added stress along the way if you are anything like me! COVID-19 has made our normal living do a full 360, and sometimes we can get caught up in the overwhelming chaos of it all. I am learning how to stay focused, productive, and happy this semester during these trying times (while being safe and smart.) Here are some life hacks I have picked up on that I feel like will help you remain on top of your game this semester!
1. Invest in a solid routine: Taking all online courses this semester has really turned me into a homebody. For all my online class students, I recommend starting your day as if it were like you were going to your normal on campus classes. Wake up before noon, eat your favorite breakfast and play your favorite music. Get dressed as if you were going to class. It may sound weird, but it helps you stay productive and focused attentively during your online lectures!
2. Get involved in something YOU enjoy: COVID-19 has put some of our favorite activities on a stand-by, however that does not mean there is not room for safe fun. Marshall University offers activities for anything you could imagine. Look into something that interests you on campus. If you do not want to get involved in a campus activity, I recommend getting back in touch with what you enjoy at home. Whether it is art, exercising, watching movies, shopping etc. It is always therapeutic to take the time to treat yourself. Self-care is so important.
3. Manage time and stress accordingly: Sometimes, we do not realize how easily we can allow ourselves to be overwhelmed and exhausted. I am guilty for this. Between majorette practice, school, two jobs, and sorority while trying to juggle time for family and friends, 24 hours seems like not enough time in a day. I often am forgetful because of how busy life can get. My advice would be to always plan ahead!! Starting your day early give you time to plan, do things ahead of time, while also giving you that extra leverage time for relaxation. Keep a planner or calendar. They help tremendously with time management. For big assignments, I recommend starting them way ahead of time, so you avoid unneeded stress.
I hope this semester goes well for you. Remember, you are doing amazing considering your circumstances. You are worthy and loved. Light your favorite candle, do your skin care routine, and boss up. Your future is waiting for you, and she is bright.
