Face it. We’re all sick of eating at the same restaurants day after day. Sure, everyone loves Chipotle and Jason’s Deli, but wouldn’t it be fun to change things up every once in a while?
If you’re looking for a different place to eat, a fun option is to take a trip to Surfside in D.C. in Glover Park. The restaurant has a beachy feel, and offers a variety of seafood. From delicious fresh salads to fish tacos, it has something for everyone.
Since there are barely any places to order seafood in College Park, a trip to D.C. is definitely worth it. Surfside is located 2444 Wisconsin Ave and also offers curbside pick-up or delivery.
UMD students who have already visited the restaurant love it.
“The guacamole at Surfside is absolutely delicious. I’ve gotten it every time I’ve been there so far,” sophomore business major Melissa Bean said.
Not only do they have great food, but they have delicious drinks as well. They offer a variety of specially drinks including the “Surfside Margarita” and “Millie’s Madaket Mystery,” which combines rum, orange juice, pineapple and cranberry.
The best part:, Surfside is affordable. Almost all of the entrees are under $15. Surfside’s March special is the Grilled Mahi Mahi Taco entree, which will be offered for the rest of the month for just $11.95.
“I really like it because there’s no where else like it in the area. I never get seafood when I’m at school, so it’s fun to change things up. The food is great, and so is the service,” junior government and politics major Jen Guthrie said.
If you’re not a huge seafood fan, you’ll definitely have to give Shake Shack a try. This is a much more casual place to grab a bite, located in DuPont Circle in D.C.
Their specialty is their all-natural Angus beef burgers and flattop hotdogs. They have delicious fries, and of course you can’t forget to try their frozen custard and handspun shakes for dessert.
Shake Shake has great food for an affordable price, and is located at 1216 18th Street NW in D.C. You won’t want to miss out on some of D.C.’s finest burgers.
We all know College Park has a ton of pizza places, but Pizzeria Paradiso outdoes them all. They offer a variety of pizzas, and although they’re a little more expensive, it’s definitely worth it.
“Their Margherita pizza is the best. The pizza in College Park doesn’t even compare,” exclaimed junior economics major Kate Aloia.
In addition to their endless pizza options, Pizzeria Paradiso also offers inexpensive happy hour options. Mondays through Thursdays from 5 to 7pm, they offer half price drafts and $5 appetizers. The pizzeria is located right in Georgetown at 3282 M Street NW. There is also a location in Dupont Circle.
When you are looking for a break from Route 1, D.C. has all the restaurants you could ever want to spice up your meals and give you the variety you are looking for.
