How to Spend Valentine’s Day if You are Valentine-less

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Maryland chapter.

So, you don’t have a Valentine on Valentine’s Day? No worries! Not everyone can have a significant other on Valentine’s Day and it is not the end of the world. There are so many things you can do on your own or with some gal pals. The ladies at Her Campus are here for you, so, we compiled a list of things to keep yourself busy during those difficult twenty-four hours.

1. Have a Ladies Night

Any college-aged girl can agree wine nights with your best friends can be more fun than a party any day of the week. So why can’t this hold true for Valentine’s Day? Instead of getting dressed up and putting so much effort into choosing an outfit, you can kick back and relax with your closest girl friends. To complete this “anti-Valentine’s Day” celebration, you guys can watch a movie like “John Tucker Must Die” to completely show your disregard for relationships.

2. Eat Food

Honestly no date I have ever been on has compared to a burrito bowl at Chipotle or a Five Guys burger. Therefore, skip the disappointment of a bad date and head straight to your favorite restaurant to enjoy a night of treating yourself.

3. Spend Time With Family

Relationships are fleeting, however, family is forever. This is why you should spend your Valentine’s Day hanging out with your mom watching reality TV or playing a board game with your younger sister. Being at college takes a lot of time away from seeing your loved ones so it wouldn’t hurt to go home for the day to catch up with family.

4. Go About Your Day As If It Were Any Other Day

Who said society has to dictate how you live your life? If you don’t have a significant other, don’t sweat it! The date doesn’t change the fact that the sun will rise in the morning and set in the evening. Valentine’s Day is just like any other day. So go out and be the independent woman you are and treat yo’ self.
