Voyage to Utopia: What You Need to Know Before the Show

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marymount chapter.

Voyage to Utopia, hosted by Marymount’s African Caribbean Student Association has quickly become a Marymount tradition. The fashion show spotlights Washington D.C designers and provides students of all majors an opportunity to get hands on experience in planning and producing a fashion show. This year’s 6th Annual Voyage to Utopia fashion show will be held this Saturday, February 15th at 8:00pm in the Lower Level Rec Gym on Marymount’s Main Campus, 2807 N. Glebe Rd Arlington, VA 22207.

You can purchase tickets online or in person in the dining hall and the Lee Center. Tickets are $7 for Marymount students, $12 for general admissions and $25 for VIP tickets that include expedited entry, special seating and a VIP goodie bag. Half of the show proceeds will benefit the Marymount’s President’s Fund, a need-based scholarship for students. The other half will go to Kakenya’s Dream Foundation, an international charity that fights human rights issues and sponsors education for young girls in Kenya.

Having attended previous shows, we were already excited for the annual show. Seeing garments from local designers, getting wrapped up in the experience that is Voyage, the choreography, the models and of course getting dressed to impress, what could be better?! This year Her Campus Marymount had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and get a sneak peek at the model practice and of course it was too good not to share!

If you’re still not excited or anxious to see the show as we are, check out these video clips from previous shows.

Don’t forget to add Voyage on Facebook and follow them on Twitter and Instagram for even more exciting information!
