13 Life Lessons from The Breakfast Club

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marywood chapter.

John Hughes 1985 classic, The Breakfast Club made stars of Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Emilio Estevez and has become beloved by people all over the world. The story of five kids trapped in Saturday detention is widely regarded as one of the greatest coming of age stories of all time and has taught lessons that are relevant to people of all ages.

1. To ask the important questions in life.

2. To be proud of your talents.

3. No one’s home life is perfect.

4. Never underestimate the power of a dance break.

5. Growing up sucks.

6. People aren’t always what they seem.

7. Sometimes breaking the rules has its rewards.

8. To step out of your comfort zone every once in a while.

9. Confidence is key.

10. To Always say what you mean.

11. Everyone has feelings.

12. Opposites attract.

13. Sometimes you end up exactly where you need to be…even if it’s Saturday detention.

Sincerely thankful for The Breakfast Club.
