Name: Ryan Calamia
Major: Secondary English Education Minor in Journalism
Graduation Year: 2019

Her Campus (HC): Why did you choose Marywood?
Ryan Calamia (RC): One was the campus. I came here during a fall open house and the leaves were changing colors and I was like mom this is it. Then I compared every school I visited to Marywood.Â
HC: If you had one piece of advice for your freshman self what would it be?
RC: Chill. I was too in the moment. In a bad way. I was trying to do anything and everything to have as many friends as I could and do anything and everything to make myself feel good or a part of the school but just being here meant being a part of the school. I tried a little too hard my freshman year.
HC: Who is your role model?
RC: This is so hard. My role model would be my high school science teacher. I had her for three classes freshman, sophomore, and junior year. She was always there for me. I could go to her for anything and she inspired me to become a teacher.Â
HC: If you could have a meal with one person, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
RC: I would have to say Logan Lerman. Because I mean he played in Perks of Being a Wallflower and I just feel like he has an interesting view of the world and I want to know more about him. He is very off the grid.Â
HC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
RC: In California with my husband teaching high school English, or something else I don’t know. I will be teaching.Â
HC: Dunkin or Starbucks?
RC: Starbucks all the way.
HC: Where is your favorite place to eat on campus?
RC: First stop. Just kidding the Learning Commons, it’s a great place. I always get my wraps or quesadillas.Â
HC: What was your favorite class so far?
RC: Shakespeare with Dr. Brassard. In high school my teacher broke it down to make me love Shakespeare and when I took this class it went above and beyond my expectations, and they were high.Â
