Don’t fret McGill students; it’s almost the end of the school year! This means exams will finally be over, the weather will be nicer, and summer will be in full swing. Although it may seem like a lifetime away, one of the most celebrated transitions into summer is coming back soon. OAP lite, hosted at the end of the semester for two days, will bring you together with all of your friends for one last hurrah before everyone goes their separate ways. If you’re anything like me, OAP is feeling a lot like the light at the end of the tunnel as I sit in the library trying to retain information for my finals this upcoming week. Here are a few reasons why OAP can help get you through this week:
1. This year, OAP isn’t before you have more exams; it’s at the end of the exam period! So, unless you have a 6-9 exam on Friday (I am literally so sorry), you will have plenty of time to come and enjoy the outdoor festivities. The line will be long to get in, so make sure you get there early!
2. $3 beers and good burgers. Let’s be real, there aren’t a lot of other places where you can get cheap drinks and cheap food. Barbecued food and a nice cold drink to share with your friends is the ultimate end of the year celebration.
3. Live music featuring some of your favourite McGill bands. Previous years have hosted bands including Shyre, Clay and Friend, and Busty and the Bass. This year’s lineup will be released closer to the actual date.
4. Lounge with your friends on the grass. Bring a blanket or two (if you can’t get there early enough to grab a table and chairs) and chill with your friends. Good vibes all around.
5. It’s not snowing like it was last year aka no (snow)AP! Don’t worry, you can totally wear your sandals and t-shirts because the predicted forecast is all blue skies and sun!
