As I stepped out of my dorm room feeling satisfied with what I would call the perfect fall look for the day, (an oversized sweater, tights, and tall boots) I was instantly put to shame by my floor mate Monaâs trendy âlast days of summerâ look. It was one of those flashback to summer days when the entire student body strolled outside, soaking up the remnants of Montrealâs heat in preparation for the imminent winter. While I was anticipating fashionâs favorite season, Mona Li, an artsy first year studying life sciences, was taking full advantage of the transitioning weather and tastefully combining two seasons. Her high-waisted red pleated shorts were, of course, from her summer wardrobe, but every fashionista knows that a cardigan is essential for the fall. She kept it monochromatic with shades of red, a fashion forward solution to the time-consuming challenge of matching, and finally, accented this chic look with a bright red bow headband that radiated classiness.  Watching me analyze her entirely red outfit, she asked if it looked like she had just been to the Redmenâs game. Nonplussed, I replied that it did, to which she smiled and said she was glad since she hadnât been able to attend and was supporting them from a distance. In that moment, I recognized someone who wasnât afraid to challenge college fashion norms to make a statement. Though many other girls that day danced across campus with bows in their hair, Monaâs stood out from the othersâ as she sashayed about exuding the confidence of a true trendsetter.Â
