Campus Cutie: Tobias Atkin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

Meet Tobias Atkin, an incredibly smart and funny guy who can hold his own as the only guy in a female-dominated ENGL seminar. Also known as Toby, this campus cutie has an interesting taste in music and film, as well as a big heart. What’s not to love?

Favorite Music of the Moment: I’ve been listening to a lot of Joanna Newsom.

Favorite Movie: Possibly Rosemary’s Baby.

Favorite Pastime: I really like cooking, and I used to knit but I love volunteering at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

Dream Job: I’d love to be a physician.

Dream Travel Destination: Ljubljana, Slovenia- I’m really interested in post-Soviet countries because they’re super cheap and apparently, they have a thriving techno scene.

Favorite Place on Campus: McLennan library, first floor- the comfy chairs next to the big windows.

Weirdest Thing You’ve Seen at McGill: I just recently saw a super formal occasion in the lobby of McLennan library. There were military men in full uniform all gathered in the lobby.

Advice to a First Year McGill Student: Take a variety of classes, and switch your major if you want to. Don’t ever feel constrained to your major!

Most Attractive Quality in Another Human Being: Physical attraction! [laughs] Totally just kidding. I actually think it is honesty, even if it’s awkward being honest.

Born and raised in Montreal, Hailey is a second year McGill student, majoring in English-Cultural Studies and minoring in Communications. She can almost always be found at a coffee shop or library near campus with a coffee in her hand and a large set of books.  In addition to her love for writing, she absolutely adores celebrity gossip, Netflix, music, and all things concerning Oprah Winfrey. She is thrilled to be writing for HerCampus, and is excited for you to see her contributions!
