With the dawning of a new school year comes the termination of the now enviable freedom from assignments, the sweltering heat of summer and the unfortunate fashion choices that accompany said high temperatures. I am one of those freaks who finds the frigid frost of winter far preferable over walking to class with the backs of my knees collecting a swimming pool’s worth amount of sweat. Far be it from me to judge you for loving summer, to each their own, but when temperatures go up I prefer my couch to the park.

With an obscene amount of popcorn in tow, I settle in for some binge watching. I recently returned to an old favorite, The Office. Steve Carell is a genius and the writing is as funny upon the hundredth viewing as it is the first. I found as a McGill student, or as a university student in general for that matter, I was relating to that whip-smart dialogue I held so dear for all of these years. To bring in a bit of humour to your upcoming year at McGill, here are some thoughts I know we all have during our time as uni students, through the prolific and insanely hilarious words of Michael Gary Scott et al.

Arrival, Logistics and Settling In

Trying to explain to people why you chose to go to McGill in the first place:

Taking your student ID photo:

Dealing with anything regarding McGill Admin:

Realizing you brought way too much stuff to fit into your new space, but forgot essential items you actually need:

When your parents are done moving you in and driving away:

Make the most of your year (which in my case will just be more binge watching/being self deprecating) and study hard, collegiettes!
