This week Her Campus McGill’s Cutie has a contagious “joie de vivre” about him. There’s no wondering why; when you own paisley shorts, say “y’all” like a true Georgia peach, and run SUS meetings, life’s looking pretty good. What’s the recipe for this man-cocktail you ask? Introducing Matt Dolson: part heart-throb, part sexy, two-parts genius and a splash of shuga (no, not sugar). And that’ll be shaken, not stirred.
(Oh, and I don’t know about you ladies, but the next time I’m having any kind of surgery, I’ll be making sure this soon-to-be anesthesiologist is putting me to sleep.)
Name: Matt Dolson
Nickname(s): Splatty
Major/minor: Pharmacology
Dream job: Heir to a fortune of any kind, really
Realistic job: Anesthesiologist
When you procrastinate you: Watch endless amounts of TV. Like entire seasons in a day if I have to really avoid work.
Best pick-up line you know: I’ll cook you dinner if you cook me breakfast.
Favourite fashion item you own: I have this really cool pashmina… No, that’s a joke; I would never wear a pashmina! I do, however, have some paisley shorts that I feel ok about.
Signature dish: Bacon-asiago-sundried tomato-cream sauce (it goes best with rigatoni, but realistically all pasta shapes taste the same… so who really cares?)
Past and current involvements with McGill: I currently teach an MCAT prep course for the Princeton Review and am the speaker of council for the Science Undergraduate Society (which means I run meetings and general assemblies). I was involved in Ecouture fashion show last year as a model, and, once upon a time, I played intramural dodgeball. This past summer I was one of the coordinators for Science Frosh (the best one yet, if I do say so myself).
Most interesting/surprising fact you’ve learned in your college career: All the kings in a deck of cards represent a real-life, bad-ass king.
Biggest personal life-lesson you got out of college: Sometimes I’m wrong.
Top 3 things that would be on your bucket list: Cage diving with some kind of shark, learning to surf, and having a kid.
If you had to give freshmen one piece of advice about going through college, what would it be? Relax, enjoy the moment, and don’t focus all your time freaking out about what’s going to happen after university… otherwise the four years will go by without you even realizing they happened.
