University is four years of living away from your parents, figuring out what you like and what you don’t, and being free to make your own decisions. Whether that involves going shopping, dyeing your hair a particular color, adding some piercings, or even getting tattoos, you should be informed before you decide. Tattoos are permanent, so if you decide to get one you really want to make sure you pick the right place. Here are a few well-established places with good reputations.
Tattoo Box
This shop is really quaint and welcoming. The place is also very clean and the artists like to chat with the clients. I have a friend who got a few tattoos there and she loves them. The designs of the tattoos were drawn from scratch and they really look professional. I think the great thing about this place is that they welcome walk-ins and appointments, and either way they will make you feel taken care of. It is located at 155 Avenue des Pins Montréal, QC H2W 1N9 ; (514) 759-6806.
Bodkin
This place is not your typical grungy-with-a-rebel-attitude shop. This tattoo parlor is clean and well-decorated, with a very open and luminous setting. There are different tattoo artists you can choose from, all of whom are open to brainstorming sessions about what you want. Although this place is a bit further out of downtown and it has appointments, the atmosphere seems different from other shops. It is a special parlor with three female tattoo artists and an owner whose knowledge comes from the family. The place is located at 55 Bernard Ouest Montréal, QC H2T 2V6 ; (438) 380-2634.
POL Tattoo
I have not been to this place before, but a quick look on their website, and the fact that it was featured in multiple articles, tells me that it has a reputation worth knowing. The difference between this shop and the two others is that you get to look at each tattoo artist’s work and if you have questions you can contact them personally. Each artist also has a résumé describing themselves and their worn on the website .
Imago
I have seen this place on a few different sites with great reviews. This parlor has plenty of professionals who have portfolios to prove it. Each of them has experience in designing and executing large, complex tattoos. Imago has been around a longer than other parlors so they have clientele that keep coming back. They are located at 459 Saint-Laurent ; (514) 350-0015.
