With the weather finally getting colder (after this very intensely hot week), I’m so ready to dive into some of my favorite fall movies and TV shows to get me in the perfect mood for a pumpkin spice latte and a cozy blanket. You have to believe me when I say my fluffy socks and oversized knitted sweater are already on!
It’s a bit of a tradition in my house to watch certain shows or movies before the school year and during the fall term to get us into the right headspace for the new semester, so these are my top three shows/movies to get you into that perfect cozy-sweater, cup of tea, fall mood.
1. Harry Potter
for the witches and wizards who missed the Hogwarts Express on September 1st
The first movie series that immediately gets me into the cozy mood has got to be Harry Potter. It might just be me, but Harry Potter is one of those series that never ever gets old. My younger brother and I decided that we’d binge-watch the entire series (including the Fantastic Beasts trilogy) right before school started up again so we definitely were in the mood to do our work, with a cup of tea that we were pretending was butterbeer. Cozying up with Hermione Granger’s work ethic and Harry and Ron’s nightmare spider encounters has me in just the right headspace to head back into the new semester, pretending I’m at Hogwarts right alongside them!
2. Gilmore Girls
for the academic coffee lovers
If you’re really feeling the pumpkin-spiced lattes, then you just know you have to get into ‘Gilmore Girls’ again. This show will have you in the mood for warm cups of coffee in the morning, reading classics with Rory Gilmore, and dressing like a super hot fall mom like Lorelai Gilmore. Starting this at the beginning of a new semester always makes me want to study and have a great routine. Gilmore Girls is such a comfort show, that you know that you’ll be clicking “next episode” every single time.
3. The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings
for the cozy escapers
I don’t know if you guys are into fantasy but at this time of the year, I definitely feel like I want to escape from the world and go into a little fantasy world – much like Hobbiton and Rivendell from Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. If you’re anything like me, this time of year has you wanting to escape from reading textbooks and instead pretend that you’re a super hot elf that can defend herself with arrows or something ridiculously cool like that. Lord of the Rings has always been an escape for me and is definitely one of those movie series that is so fall-coded.
Pro tip: light a candle, get your hot coffee/tea/chocolate, throw the blanket into the dryer before use, and have yourself the ultimate fall experience with these three binge-worthy series to get you through this time of colorful leaves and seasonal treats!
