5 Easy, Last-Minute Halloween Costumes for any Pop-Culture Fan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McMaster chapter.

Picking out a Halloween costume always proves to be the most challenging task of the year, and 2021 is no exception. If you’ve been busy with school, work, or just life in general and haven’t selected a costume yet, don’t be spooked! Here is a list of five easy costumes related to major events, celebrities, and memes of the last year, certain to make you the belle of the costume ball!

Kourtney Kardashian in her Punk Era

If your timelines haven’t been bombarded with photos, news and headlines about Kourtney Kardashian and her new beau, drummer of Blink-182, Travis Barker, then I think we’re on totally different sides of the internet. For this costume, all you’ll need is black clothing: particularly especially a black leather jacket, some black 2000s sunglasses, a claw clip and a brand new punk-rocker attitude. You can even make this into a couples costume by covering your partner in fake tattoos and having them carry around drumsticks. Ted Lasso from the Apple TV Original: Ted Lasso

After this TV show’s sweep at the Emmys, I would be surprised if you haven’t heard of this heartwarming series which follows American Football coach Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, lead an English Football team to victory. To spend a night as the loveable coach, you will need a knit sweater, puff jacket, visor, aviators, and a whistle. Throw those pieces together, with your coolest sneakers and a fake moustache, and give every person you encounter on Halloween night a long-winded compliment – you have the perfect pop-culture costume!

Berries and Cream from TikTok

The Berries and Cream dance took TikTok by storm for months. With its many remixes and dances it’s the perfect balance of comedy and notoriety, and a great choice for Halloween. For this costume, you can either choose to dress as the Little Lad himself – with the bloomers, bib and brown bowl cut – or you can simplify it. For the simplified version, just print out photos of different berries (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries etc.), tape them onto a t-shirt, and carry around a carton of cream. The costume can also double as a couples costume, one person wears the t-shirt with berries and the other carries the cream.

Contestants on the Bachelor

If you and your friends are still scrambling for the perfect group Halloween costume, this is the inspiration you’ve been waiting for. All you need to complete the perfect Bachelor contestant lineup is a nice dress and a rose; if you’re planning on going out with a group of girls this costume is super easy to coordinate. If you want to step it up a notch, have one member of your group be the eliminated contestant by smearing their makeup, ruining their hair and not having a rose. This group costume is super easy and with Michelle’s season of the Bachelorette now airing, everyone will get it.

Noodle the Pug/No Bones from TikTok

If you’ve been on TikTok recently, you’ve been receiving forecasts about how your day will be from a 13-year old pug named Noodle and his owner, @jongraz. This pug has pretty much broken the internet, and certainly taken over the lives of most TikTok users, so why not make him a funny costume for you and a friend? One friend can cut out bone shapes from pieces of printer paper and be a ‘bones day’ while the other friend wears a matching outfit without any bones, representing a ‘no bones day’. The reference in this costume is somewhat obscure which makes it the perfect opportunity for conversation or a costume contest victory.

Regardless of what you choose to wear, we hope you have a safe and spooky Halloween!
