Why did you choose to come to MU? I loved the campus, the programs, and most of all the opportunities here. There was never a feeling of “You can’t do that.” Every part of Mercer encourages you to get involved and do what you love. Your professors actually remember your name, every walk across campus you see ten people you know. It’s just that smaller school feel; it’s comfortable. Plus the financial aid was a nice touch.
What are your thoughts on Self Defense? Everyone needs to be ready for the worst, especially here in Macon. I’ve always felt fairly safe at Mercer and downtown, but then again I’m a fairly athletic guy with nine years of karate training. It doesn’t take a lot to learn how to protect yourself in certain situations, and it just might save your life.
What can’t you live without? My friends and my brothers, they have always been there for me and I know I can depend on them. Even when I was overwhelmed by the whole college experience my first semester, the friends I have made here were ready to save me. I don’t know where I would be without them, but it definitely would not be good.
How would you like to be perceived? I don’t care if people think I’m weird, I don’t care if people think I’m unattractive, and I don’t care if I’m not the most popular guy on campus. All I want is to be known as a genuinely kind individual, who will always drop everything to help someone in need. I don’t care who you are, I will always be more than happy to talk to you, or just listen if need be. If that is the only thing people can say about me than I think I’ve done pretty well.
Favorite Motto/Quote: “I never ask a man what his business is, for it never interests me. What I ask him about are his thoughts and his dreams.” – H.P. Lovecraft “The world makes way for the man who knows where he is going.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson (Couldn’t decide).
Future Goals: I hope to start up a college marketing company within the next year, travel to five other countries before I graduate, and leave behind a legacy at Mercer that will not be forgotten. After that I hope to become a cross cultural management consultant for international corporations and start up several companies focused on innovative solutions for social problems, such as poverty, disease and war. After my time in business is done I would like to become a motivational speaker and philanthropist, to pass on to the next generation the same opportunities I was lucky enough to receive.
