5 Tricks To A Happier Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.

With these five simple tricks you can implement into your daily life, you’ll be sure to find happiness within your everyday routine.

  1. Put others first

By paying special attention to putting others’ needs before yourself, you’ll instantly feel better about yourself and the world around you. Simply holding the door open for someone or smiling to a stranger has the ability to turn someone’s day around. And who knows, maybe someone will return the favor for you.

2) Journal

At the end of every day, take note of five things that made you smile that day. Whether it be getting a job interview or having a perfect hair day, appreciating the happy moments in life will remind you how much you have to be thankful for.

3) Alone time

With the craziness of being in college, it can sometimes be hard to find time to spend alone. However, making time at one point in the day to just lay down and watch an episode of Netflix is well-deserved amongst all our hard work. You deserve a break once in awhile, and resting will better prepare you to tackle your next task.

4) Get involved

We all know that being involved in college is key to a perfect resume, but it’s important that amongst the laundry list of involvements, at least one is something you’re doing because you want to. Whether it be trying something new or being part of a philanthropic group you’re passionate about, doing something for yourself is essential.

5) Take Care of Yourself

It is easy to get swept up in the midst of a hectic college schedule between classes, extracurriculars, and social events. Forgetting things like eating breakfast, working out, drinking enough water, and getting enough sleep is so easy to do. But by making the extra effort to do these things, not only will you feel so much better physically, but mentally you will feel ready to conquer your day.
