UP Magazine Photography Director: Kennedy Cox

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.

All lovers of UP Magazine should brace themselves for some amazing, creative, and colorful photos next year from Miss Kennedy Cox, the new photography director for UP Magazine. Kennedy has always had a very unique flare of her own and a passion for photography.

When I asked Kennedy what her future plans were for UP she said, “I obviously love UP as is, but there is always room for growth and improvement. I think our goals on staff in general are always to get bigger and better, and to have positive feedback from students and the community. I do have some new and fresh ideas, but stay tuned for future issues to see what they are!”

I lived in the same dorm as Kennedy last year, and not only are her photo’s bold and fierce, but so is her style! She is always looking fun, fresh, fierce (as Katy Perry would say) and is not afraid to have her own signature look, comprised of cheetah galore and sparkly beret’s. It is because of her fearlessness that she reaches her goals of producing something memorable. Kennedy has learned that, “if you’re too afraid of being wrong, you’ll never make anything original.”

Kennedy wisely always has her camera on-hand in her purse because she never knows never to pass up something that could be made artistic.. She enjoys taking pictures of pretty much everything, but feels as though people are more responsive to photos with other people in them. She can be spotted around campus with her Nikon D5000, but he also has an old school film camera to capture some college memories!

Cox says that, “Cameras are so accessible these days; anyone can push a button and snap a picture, but a true photographer can make the picture have life and turn it into a work of art.” This summer she is going to continue her work in photography and painting in Florence, Italy. In terms of her future aspirations, Kennedy aspires to be a creative director/ photographer for a publication or company.

The Spring release of UP Magazine is April 17th, so be sure to get your copy when it’s hot off the press and check out some of Kennedy’s latest work!
