The Makings Of An Epic Senior Bar Crawl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Miami (OH) chapter.
From Skipper’s, to New, to Brick, to 45, to CJ’s, to O-Pub, the Senior Bar Crawl is one of the most beheld traditions at Miami. It’s a time where you’re with your best friends for one last memorable night in Oxford. Whether you are reunited with your freshman dorm, in a campus org, or frat/sorority, you have a long night ahead of you so make sure you’re hydrated….it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Make it one of the most memorable nights at your second home in Oxford where Ted Woods or Sushi Steve knows you by first name, where you’ve spent more time than any other place on campus, so hug your favorite bartender goodbye, and leave your final mark.

Wherever you go on your last crawl of Oxford’s bars, follow these five tips to have the best bar crawl of your senior year:

1. Great Attitude
No one wants to go out with someone who is going to complain about where they’re going, what drink they are going to order, or who’s texting you. It’s your senior year, and you’re with everyone you want to be with anyways so leave your cell phone zipped in your purse for the night, and buy your best friend that extra Trash Can at Brick Street.

2. Schedule
CJ’s Mongolians. Brick’s Trashcans. Pachinko’s Mindprobes. Sushi Nara’s Sake Bombs. New Bar’s Redskins. Make sure you have a set schedule of where you want to start and end your night. This will keep you on track when that second Mindprobe starts to hit you. Start the night early! 8 p.m. is a realistic start time to go to most of Oxford’s bars for one drink at a time. Most Senior Bar Crawls are during the week (Tues,/Weds. nights) so that way there are no lines down High Street. You’ll have the bars to yourself for most of the night until people start to cram into New Bar because freshmen are filling Brick’s dance floor for 90’s Night.

3. All About The Shirts
The most fun part about the Bar Crawl is designing the t-shirts that will signal to all the bartenders that you are on your Senior Pub Crawl. You will stick out in your bold, hot pink shirts when you’re frolicking all over High Street. Some ideas of designs are writing the names of all the Bars in Oxford (22 to be exact). You’ll look back at this shirt and think of this night, and wish you could remember most of it.

4. Make It Competitive
Before you order that Mongolian at CJ’s, get organized in line to compete with one another. Or if you’re with your Freshman Dorm, race against your freshman year roommate. When you’re at New Bar, play flip cup along the high counter. Take this opportunity to play games in the bars and make it competitive.

5. End The Night With….Food!
You are allowed to drunk eat on this bestowed night. You are a senior, how much longer can you go to Bagel & Deli on a Tuesday night? When are you ever going to have greased, fried dough balls from Bruno’s again? And don’t hold back from splurging on my personal favorite, Mac N’ Cheese Bites, which are completely worth the wait at Skipper’s, no matter how long the line.

Be safe, my friends. I hope not to find you crawling home at the end of the night.
