Who knew an ancient civilization could provide such a fashionable trend? With warmer weather as of late, we completely welcome an invasion of the aztec print, taking form in various styles such as accessories, clothing, and shoes. Aztec-inspired pieces are clearly on the rise and will complete any outfit through signature bold colors and zigzag patterns. Take part in this hot spring trend by rocking the look in various forms mentioned below.

Accessories
  • The key when it comes to Aztec prints is to balance out the bold print with simple pieces and complimentary colors.
  • Do not (we repeat, do not!) mix an Aztec print with another bold print, unless you want to end up highlighted on Fashion Police by Joan Rivers. Any aztec accessory can easily be paired with a neutral blouse and jeans or jean shorts for a casual, laid-back vibe.
Shoes
  • Similar to accessories, Aztec inspired shoes should be complimented by an understated outfit.
Clothing
  • Pair Aztec shorts or skirts with a shirt color that is dominant in the Aztec print. (Style Aztec shirts the same way as Aztec shorts/skirts)
  • When an Aztec piece is black and white, a way to spice up the outfit it to add bright color to your look in any way that you can–try a fun sweater or cute knee-highs for example.
  • HC Aztec Fashion 411: All aztec clothing, such as dresses like the one pictured below, should have accessories and shoes that compliment the colors of the Aztec print.

There are so many different ways you can wear this trend, which is not hard to come by, considering aztec-inspired pieces are everywhere this spring. Go out and get your print on, and have fun with it collegiettes! Oh, and by the way, consider perusing Blutique Uptown for some affordable retail therapy and aztec inspiration (we are currently obsessing over their tunics and tops)!
