The University of Miami had a record nine players selected in the 2017 NFL Draft.
According to a press release, this is the eight time in the modern era that the canes have had nine players go in the draft. The other years were 1988, 1990, 1991, 1993, 2002, 2004 and 2006. It is also the 64th time a Hurricane has been drafted in the first round.
David Njoku, a tight-end, was drafted by the Celevand Browns as the 29th pick. Defensive back Rayshawn Jenkins was the next Cane to be drafted. He went in the fourth round to the Los Angeles Chargers as the 113th pick. Defensive back Corn Elder was right behind him. He signed with the Carolina Panthers in the fifth round at the 152nd pick. Danny Isidora, an offensive lineman was next as he signed with the Minnesota Vikings. He went in the fifth round as the 180nd picked. Defnesive Lineman Al-Quadin Muhammad went in the sixth round as the 196th picked. He signed with the New Orleans Saints.
Everyone’s favorite quaterback, Brad Kaaya, was finally drafted in the sixth round as the 215th picked. He signed with the Detroit Lions where former Hurricane Football Head Coach Al Golden now serves as the quarterback coach. Stacy Coley, a top wide-reciever, signed with the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round as the 219th picked. Defnesive back Adrian Colbert was drafted by the San Franciso 49ers. He went in the seventh round as the 229th pick. Finally, full back Marquez Williams went to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round as the 124th pick.
