“The quietest people in the room have the most brilliant minds.” This statement is proven true when you have the opportunity to sit down and observe Edward Caswell. Her Campus caught up with the very busy founder and  president of Artists Rocking Together, after one of of his numerous weekly board meetings.  Edward, who goes by the moniker Cas is what one would call a Renaissance man. He is well known for having a deep appreciation for music, fashion and pretty much anything of aesthetic worth. This 20 year old communications major, with a concentration in public relations, is someone you would be glad to know both personally and as a young professional.

Cas was born and raised in West Philadelphia. He has the wildest dreams, a big heart and an even larger vision for the future. Transferring from Mansfield University to Millersville in his freshmen year of college, Cas found the doors of opportunity opening for him left and right at the Ville. His first shot at student leadership was with the Black Student Union where he served as their Historian in 2010. It wasn’t long before he dreamt up A.R.T. which is now a force to be reckoned with on the student organization spectrum here at Millersville.

When asked what was the driving force behind the creation of  A.R.T, the first four words  that he uttered were, “Where do I start?” After noticing that there wasn’t a real outlet for people of the creative niche to display their talents and express themselves, Cas knew that Artists Rocking Together needed to exist.

“I admire creativity,” he said. Many of his fellow students have made comments on the fact that he has been gifted enough to come up with a concept for an organization like A.R.T., further solidifying reasons why he was noticed as our Campus Celebrity. After thinking it through, Cas knew exactly how he felt about the birth of Artists Rocking Together.

“I’m passionate about anything that is innovative, and that is trendsetting. I started A.R.T. because I wanted to share my passion.” He jokingly admitted that the best day of his life was when A.R.T. was granted temporary status as an organization by the university. As a new organization, Artists Rocking Together had a very successful first semester, as it was the sponsor of several events with outstanding student body participation. Cas feels and acts like a proud father because A.R.T. is certainly his baby.

Noted to be an avid fan of musical geniuses like Pharrell and Jay-Z, as well as legendary Artists Andy Warhol, Cas has an imagination and creative ability not seen too often. He and his friends started a music group deemed “Hardly Pause” in which they aim to set the standard of what the next generation of hip-hop culture will look and sound like. In his spare time he likes to write and listen to music, practice his photography skills, as well as think about his future career path.  Cas mentioned that he is mostly motivated by his family and emphasized that his mother is someone that inspires him to keep working to his fullest potential. His favorite place in the world, which he one day hopes to visi, is Paris because of it’s culture, and fashion.

Being business oriented, and forward thinking Her Campus wanted to know what was Cas’s biggest fear?

“My biggest fear is giving up”, he said.

With someone whose biggest fear is giving up, you might have a hard time deterring Cas from any goal he sets out to accomplish. He isn’t too sure about what he wants to do in life after graduating from Millersville, because he interested in so many different things–he mostly hopes for success and happiness in whatever he pursues. Cas wanted to leave a bit of advice for anyone trying to excel in life.

He quietly said, “If you want to be successful put your good foot first, and step towards success.”
