Her Campus got the chance to do business with one of the most forward thinking minds at MU this past week. This Week’s Campus Celebrity is John Lewis, a Sophomore and one of the most business oriented young people you will ever encounter at the Ville.
Now a sophomore, John bought his entrepreneurial talents to Millersville Fall 2010 as a freshman. Hailing from Southwest Philadelphia, since he arrived he has made a name for himself and is known very well by the student body.
Also known as “John Louie” or just “Louie”, John is majoring in Business Management here at Millersville. He currently serves as an executive board member of the Black Student Union and most proudly heads the MU branch of he and his friend’s clothing line called Purple Planes.
That’s right, if you have ever seen someone on campus wearing a Purple Planes hoodie, John is the person behind the new and fresh brand. Originally the title of a mix tape that his friend put together, John transformed those two words into a clothing line that is unique in it’s own right.
John discussed the logic behind Purple Planes with us a little bit. John said that the clothing line is called Purple Planes because purple is the color of royalty and planes because, initially, he and his friends knew that they were “fly.” When asked how seeing people wear his brand made him feel he responded, “It motivates me to go harder. I feel happy because whatever I’m doing is working.”
You can always catch John thinking about what moves he will make next, crunching numbers out loud, or hanging out with his friends. John displays an ambition that is sure to land him in all the right places at the right moments in time.
Her Campus was dying to know what motivated John. He said, “I know the dreams I have are all possible and close in becoming reality. That’s what motivates me”. In case you don’t know, John has proven himself to be someone worth knowing at the Ville.
There you have it–John Lewis is a mogul in the making, and he can be found right here at the Ville!
