1. Salsa Night
No, I don’t mean exchanging your salsa recipes or having a salsa-eating contest (but that is an option for next weekend!), get your heels ready because you’re going dancing! That’s right, salsa dancing! Every Friday and Saturday night, Loring’s Pasta bar in Dinkytown has a salsa dancing night. Whether you’re already an expert at this spicy Latin-style dance, or want to learn some new moves for the next formal, grab your friends for a great night with “The Salsa Police”. Doors open at 10 p.m. and admission is $8 dollars on Friday night, $10 dollars on Saturday night. Bailamos ladies!
2. Chillin’ with Chilly Billy
If you haven’t been to Dinkytown’s newest eatery, you NEED to head over to Chilly Billy’s frozen yogurt shop, located right next to CVS! Reward yourself for all of the hard work you did during the week and stop by for a sweet treat. With 10 frozen yogurt flavors (that change weekly), over 50 topping choices, and hundreds of possible delicious combinations, you’ll never get sick of it!
3. Ides of March
Stop by Coffman Memorial Union Theatre and check out George Clooney’s recent film Ides of March. Open your eyes to the dark side of politics in Clooney’s new film. 4. You Are Beautiful!
Yes, you are! We all have those days of feeling less than fabulous, but remember to keep your head up. This weekend, Gophers After Dark is giving you a chance to create a shirt made especially for you, by you! Decorate your shirt with empowering messages and words, so that every time you wear or look at it, you’ll remember that you are beautiful, young, and have the world before you.
5. Day of the Diva
In remembrance of Whitney Houston, one of the GREATEST divas who ever lived, dedicate one day this weekend as “Day of the Diva”. Rent The Bodyguard and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s film version of Cinderella from Netflix, create a “Whitney Houston” radio station on Pandora and sing your heart out to some of her greatest hits, you can even dress up as the diva herself by going thrifting and shopping for outrageous eighties and nineties outfits. RIP Whitney <3
So there you have it: this week’s Fab Five. No matter what you decide to do, be safe and have fun. Don’t forget to check back next week for some ideas for next weekend!
