We pin their outfits on Pinterest, envy their closets and try our best to recreate what they strut around in on screen, so it’s obvious we can’t help but obsess over the chicness our favorite TV characters possessed this past year. From haute couture to hipster chic, our fictional fashion icons make us wish we had personal stylists to plan out our outfits! Here are some of our picks for best-dressed TV characters.
1. Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel) on New Girl
Zooey’s character Jess’s quirky personality transfers well to her wardrobe. From frilly summer dresses to polka dot skirts, her boldly colored outfits aim for schoolteacher chic. Her retro dark hair helps convince us that she can rock the modern hipster style with her patterned skirts and bold sweaters and blouses.
2. Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) on Hart of Dixie
She might be a doctor, but scrubs are the last things Dr. Zoe Hart would pull out of her covetable closet! With a neutral color palate and a hint of preppiness, Rachel Bilson definitely stands out among her small town costars. From short shorts to sheer blouses, she wows us every week with her well put-together ensembles, just like the real Rachel Bilson. (Don’t deny that the actress is not on your style pin boards at least somewhere!)
3. Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale) on Pretty Little Liars
While it’s no revelation that every liar on PLL is worthy of this list, Aria stands out from the other four fashionistas. Her edgy ensembles prove to be eye-popping every episode. Leather jackets, neon accessories, big belts, and stockings often comprise her outfits, proving that her style takes risks and never fails to impress us. Whether she’s running away from the crazy, mysterious “A” or hooking up with her gorgeous older boyfriend, Aria knows how to do so in style!
4. Serena Van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) on Gossip Girl
If there’s one TV fashionista who can rock any couture evening gown or casual frock, it’s Serena Van der Woodsen! It’s hard not to gasp whenever she steps onto the screen, elegantly dressed for an event (which happens pretty much in every episode of Gossip Girl, but hey, it’s the Upper East Side!) High-end couture comprises much of Serena’s wardrobe, from embellished mini dresses to sheer, lace gowns. But we’re pretty sure Blake Lively would look gorgeous in anything.
5. Betty Draper (January Jones) on Mad Men
As the perfect suburban housewife, Betty Draper embodies the epitome of 1960s fashion and glamour. Her vintage, high neckline frocks and retro cat-eyed sunglasses prove that Betty is always impeccably dressed for her respective time period. Sometimes we wish we could live in the ‘60s just to rock these elegant and classy ensembles like her.
