The best thing you can be is healthy. Here are five foods to eat in order to boost your metabolism.

Protein Rich Foods

Did you know your body needs more energy to digest protein than it does fats or carbohydrates? This is what all the people in the health and fitness world refer to as a food’s “thermic effect.” The high thermic effect in protein rich foods makes them great metabolism boosters. When you go to the grocery store look for salmon, eggs, lean beef or chicken.

Chili Peppers

The capsaicin in chili peppers helps the body burn extra calories, which in turn boosts the metabolism. Make a salsa, use a chili sauce or add some chili peppers to a hearty soup and taste that burn.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon also requires a lot of energy for the body to process, making it good for your metabolism. It is a great antioxidant, so grab some cinnamon oatmeal or add it to your coffee for some double immune action.

Coffee

Speaking of coffee, it does more than giving you an energy boost. Studies have shown that coffee can increase the metabolic rate, so treat yourself to a regular cup of joe!

Brown Rice

Brown rice is an excellent complex carbohydrate and it has many health benefits. It is rich in fiber and other nutrients, so make sure to add some brown rice to your burrito bowls or simply as a side with your protein foods.

The metabolism is essential for health and weight loss. These foods will help increase the metabolic rate, but make sure to always consume a variety of nutrients.

Remember that a healthy diet is all about consistency and variety. Balance your diet in order to boost your metabolism and live your best life.
