Tired of the same old workout routine? Getting bored of running what seems like a thousand laps around a track? Mix up your workout routine daily by practicing these techniques and exercises.
1) Switch up your routine:
It’s important to switch up your workout routine every few days to prevent plateauing. When you plateau, it means that your muscles know each workout SO well that they discontinue growing and staying toned. By switching up your routine every day, you’ll constantly be working new muscles, which is beneficial for all around tone and shape.
2) Add a Tiger X class into the mix:
Mizzou offers awesome classes through its Tiger X program. After your daily run on the treadmill or your morning yoga class, see if a Tiger X class fits into your schedule. Pop into a 30-minute “Abs and Glutes” class after your cardio to help strengthen your core and give yourself a challenge. Remember to drink a ton of water to keep hydrated!
3) Jumping jacks, lunges, and squats:
When running along an indoor or outdoor track, stop every lap to do 25 jumping jacks, 10 lunges and 10 squats, then keep running. By adding these rapid exercises into the mix, you’ll be upping your heart rate and burning more calories than you would just running constantly along the track. You can do different exercises each lap, and even add more, including push-ups, or short ab workouts.

4) Sprints:
Doing sprints sounds really intimidating, but the more short bursts of intense cardio added to your workouts, the more calories you’ll burn and the more muscle you’ll gain.
                          Â
5) Lifting weights:
Regardless of what you hear, lifting weights is not just for guys! In fact, the more strength training you do, the more calories you’ll burn. In short, strength training makes your metabolism increase, which causes you to burn more calories faster. Even more effective — cardio AND strength training combined!
