6 Easy Ways To Make Money

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

As a full time student, it is more than difficult to balance class, and extracurricular activities, as well as find time to have a social life. With such a busy schedule it may seem impossible to have a job to make some extra cash. Being a frequent Main Squeeze and Big 12 goer, I can speak from experience in the “difficult to scrounge up some cash” category. With that in mind, here are a few ideas to make some extra cash that won’t take away from your studies or your social life.

1.  Babysitting: Take a few minutes to apply to Care.com or Citysitter.com and apply for as many jobs as you possibly can in the Columbia area. It’s fast, easy money that doesn’t require a stop to the bank to cash a check.

2.  Student Center or Bookstore: Mizzou employment is one of the best ways to make the most amount of money on campus. At the Student Center, employees work with other students, receive great pay and gain communication and practical job skills necessary for any career.

3.  Dining halls: Working at Dobbs may sound like a tedious job with few perks. However, dining hall employees are some of the highest paid student employees on campus.

4.  Student Success Center tutor: Do you have a strong subject in school that you’d like to teach others for money? This is one of the easiest ways to earn money on campus because you’re teaching fellow students a familiar subject. Oh, and you get paid!

5.  Waitress/hostess: The amount of bars and restaurants in downtown Columbia are endless. This makes it easy for student employees to gain some extra cash in the evenings and on the weekends by seating and serving friends, teachers and Columbians.

6.  Coffee shop: Because coffee is a college kid’s best friend, taking a few hours out of the week to work at Lakota or Starbucks will do wonders for your bank account.
