“Many tigers. One Roar” Collegiettes, get ready for the 101st homecoming! With all of the excitement surrounding our move to the SEC, Mizzou’s first post-centennial homecoming marks a new chapter in Mizzou’s historic celebration. From spirit rallies and talent to parades and philanthropy (not to mention house decs), homecoming in Columbia goes beyond the campus and allows the community to celebrate what it means to be a Tiger. Here’s a guide to having a successful homecoming:
Events
Day of Service, Oct. 20
Didn’t get a chance to donate blood? No problem. Mizzou’s Day of Service is another homecoming tradition that is a way to give back. This day connects Mizzou students and Alumni across the nation by uniting them as they serve others. Participants can register online at www.mizzou.com/HCservice2012 for an on-campus project.
Homecoming Talent Show, begins at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22- 24, Jesse Auditorium
If you are Greek, Homecoming Talent is already on your calendar. Greek life members perform their skits at Jesse Auditorium. In between skits, there will also be “inbetween act” performances from Mizzou students. Tickets are on sale now at the University Concert Series Box Office. Can’t make it to the event? Talent will be streaming live online here. There will also be a watch party at The Shack.
Almost Midnight Breakfast 9 p.m. -11:30 p.m. Oct. 25, Tiger Plaza
Enjoy biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon and more! This event is FREE for MU students and $5 for the public.
Campus Decorations 6 p.m. -9 p.m. Oct. 26, Greektown
Every year Greektown fills with people who come to see the campus decoctions created by members of Mizzou’s Greek Life. Sororities and fraternities also perform short skits in front of these decorations periodically throughout the night. This is a great way for the community to come together and be part of an annual tradition.
Comedy Show 7:30 – 9 p.m. Oct. 26, Jesse Auditorium
If you are looking for a good laugh, this event is for you. Comedy Central stars Key and Peele will take the stage at Jesse Hall for a night of comedy. Tickets are $17 for students, $20 for the public and can be purchased at the MSA/GPC box office or on Ticketmaster. The MSA/GPC Black Programming Committee sponsors the event.
Spirit Rally & Concert 9:30 – 11 p.m. Oct. 26, In front of MU Student Center
It is only fitting that Mizzou has a new event this year. Join in the Homecoming Festivities on Rollins Street to see appearances by Marching Mizzou, Spirit Squads, guest speakers and a concert by Imagine Dragons.
Parade 7 a.m. Oct. 27
Greek students, campus organizations, and community members are all involved in the homecoming tradition. Click here for a map of the parade route and more information.
Mizzou vs. Kentucky Homecoming Game 11 a.m. Oct. 27
This year the Tigers take on the Kentucky Wildcats for the homecoming game. During the game, this year’s Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.

Her Campus Mizzou’s Do’s and Don’ts
DON’T try to do everything
There are so many exciting events during homecoming week, but trying to go to every event is guaranteed to be a nightmare. Instead, decide which are most important to you and make those the priority.
DO plan ahead
After you decide what events you will go to, make sure you know what time the event starts, and be reasonable. If you really want to see the parade at 7 a.m. (yes A.M.) plan out where you want to stand on route. If you want a good spot, going early is a good idea. Want to grab coffee before? The lines at Starbucks on campus are sure to be long. With that being said, it’s probably not a good idea to stay out until 5 a.m. at your friend’s Homecoming/Halloween/It’s-the-weekend rager if the parade is a must-see.
DON’T have a last minute mentality
Homecoming is a time when traveling is definite. Alumni, parents, and Kentucky fans will all travel to Columbia. Remember that many restaurants, bars and stores will be packed, so don’t be surprised if you have to wait an hour to enjoy a meal at Shakespeare’s or The Heidelberg. For restaurants, try going somewhere further from campus or make a reservation.
DO something
When you’re not swamped with homework and other responsibilities, college is a time to enjoy life. There is so much to do homecoming week, so get out there and do something. Hang out with friends, tailgate, watch the talent competition or create your own traditions. Whatever it is, have fun and create memories.
DO send Her Campus Mizzou your homecoming photos!
Send pictures of your homecoming celebrations to hercampusmizzou@gmail.com for a chance to be on the site!
