Cooking For Dummies: Easiest Chicken Ever!!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

It may appear that I have a small obsession with chicken… that’s only because it’s the truth. Chicken is an easy source of protein to prepare, and there are so many ways to spice up a chicken dish using different ingredients. This week, I was craving Italian dressing. I added it to a simple chicken dish and, of course, a side of vegetables — gotta get those veggies in daily!

Ingredients:

    • 1 boneless, skinless chicken breast
    • Light Italian dressing
    • Vegetables of your choice (I chose spinach and mushrooms)
    • Teriyaki sauce
    • Garlic salt
    • Pam

This may be one of the easiest meals on the planet. Start by soaking your chicken breast in the Italian dressing in a bowl. Flip the chicken after about five minutes and let it marinate for another five. Heat a pan on the stove and spray the pan with Pam. Place the chicken in the pan and flip the chicken breast every two minutes until the inside of the breast is no longer pink. Add the veggies to a different pan. Pour teriyaki sauce over them and add garlic salt as needed. Leave the vegetables on the stove for about six minutes, or until the spinach shrivels. Soon enough, your healthy, protein-filled dinner will be complete. I always like to add 1% fat free milk to my dinner for some extra calcium. If you don’t like milk, make sure you have some other source of calcium before hitting the sheets at night. It’s a great way to keep your bones and muscles healthy!
