Spring is here and I could not be more excited! The weather is getting warmer, and with that comes springtime activities. If you’re looking for some fun things to do in Columbia this spring, you’ve come to the right place. Here are five fun activities for you to do in CoMo this spring.
- Picnic on the quad
-
One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is to grab a blanket and sit outside on the quad with a few friends. To make it even better, you can turn this into a picnic. Grab all of your favorite snacks and your friends, and you’re ready to go! You could make this even more fun by finding cute pictures on Pinterest to recreate! Bring a disposable camera or your phone and wear your favorite spring outfit. You can have so much fun with this and really make it your own.
- Hike at the Grindstone Nature Area
-
I know the MKT trail gets a lot of recognition amongst Mizzou students, but an underrated trail for a hike is the Grindstone Nature Area. If you want to escape downtown or campus for a little while, the Grindstone Nature Area is your best bet. There are several river crossings and the main trail is about four miles long. This is a great way to get a workout or squeeze in some time to catch up with a friend. What better way to spend the spring season than outdoors with your college pals?
- Columbia Farmers Market Trip
-
As the weather gets warmer, a perfect activity is visiting the farmers market. The Columbia Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Saturday year-round. What better way to kick off spring than by supporting local businesses, purchasing fresh produce and grabbing lunch at one of the food trucks located on-site? This definitely needs to be a trip to add to your list this spring!
- Midway Golf & Games
-
If you’re looking for a fun outdoor activity, a visit to Midway Golf & Games might be perfect for you! They have an outdoor driving range, mini golf, batting cages, go-karts, axe throwing, archery, yard games and even campfires. This would be the perfect activity for a weekend on your own or with a few pals.
- Try Bingsu at My Sweet Parlor
-
My Sweet Parlor is a local dessert shop in Columbia located on East Broadway. They have several sweet treats for you to enjoy but one, in particular, is bingsu. Bingsu is perfect for a warm spring day because it’s a shaved-ice dessert with condensed milk and toppings. My Sweet Parlor has several flavors you can try including mango, brownie chocolate, strawberry, cantaloupe, green tea and Thai tea. This would be a perfect treat to include in your picnic at the quad.
I hope you try out some of these ideas! It’s always great to spend time outdoors, hanging with friends, trying something new or adding a different activity to your weekly schedule. If you do try any of these out, let me know through the Her Campus socials and happy spring to all HC readers!
